When I found out about this brief and how we have to do live & competition briefs. I thought about my friends sisters wedding straight away. When I approached her to ask her if she would like me to design the invitations she wasn't too sure at first as she was going to ask her a design company who she had seen online. So she showed me what kind of things she would like and I said I would be able to do that for her, and if anything it would be better due to the materials and added extras I would b able to do.
Here's the brief she set me...
So after this discussion I was fascinated to start the development of the invitations so I decided to look at some of the websites that my client had told me she had been looking at.

So I started my Research which is evidence on my Design Context Blog.
So now I have started with my design decisions.
For now I believe that I am going to go with their names in a big script font at the top middle to show the focus is on them. I am going to do it on a wooden stock with white ink. I am wanting to incorporate lace also into the invitation to add some extra texture.
If the wooden stock does fall through then I am going to use a thick brown card this will still give a similar effect. I do remember my client saying that she knew someone who did screen printing. Although, I don't see the wood been a problem due to her dad been a joiner and therefore can cut the wood to the right size for her and get the wood for a cheaper price.
I am going to start with the development of the names as the focus. I want to create a type layout so they work within each other. This will show their closeness & love for each other.
This is my final of the title of the invitation I am very happy with it. I think it is exactly what I was imagining in my mind. The weight and the layout are both working together very well. I also like the script underline to separate the header from the bodycopy information this will help the receiver focus on the details of the wedding.
This is the front of the invite I am not fully satisfied with the bodycopy as I am with the names. Although, I will be able to get some feedback for this at the crit we are going to have next week. I think the problem might be too many fonts in use.
This is the back of the invite. I wanted to separate the information to the introduction & the title of the names due to them both been as important as each other. I have decided to input lace in within the bunting lines this will be effective with the wooden background.
