The Front Cover Development
I am going to start with the name as this is going to be a magazine that will come out monthly. Therefore I need an appropraite title.
Cinema Information
Film Society
Cinema & Film
Cinema Club
Cinema12
I think my favourite is Cinema Club. This is going to be the title of the magazine. So now I am going to start with my logo.
This was my first example of the logo possibly, I like the use of an art deco font, although I think this is rather illegible and therefore would not be good as a logo as you couldn't use it at a small scale without losing the readability. I am also not liking the small club as this is not smooth & flowing.
Then I thought about using a normal sans serif font to balance out the art deco but I still think I want to tone down the style a little although, I still want to use the style overall. I am going to change the bottom font too, as this is too stubby for the tall elegant font above. The justified alignment is working well though & I think this is something I am going to work with further.
This is my final I am very happy with this. They both balance each other out very well and the cinema font is still very within the style of art deco but more classic than having a modern twist. The club is made up of dots which reminded me more of the olden days film showings when they used to have one screen and they would change the letters to create the title of the film playing within the frame of the flashing blubs.
Applying this within my front cover....
I found this image online, in which I loved so therefore I thought I would use it within my front cover. I thought about producing my own but I wouldn't have the ability to do my own as if I did it at home then this would possibly back photography due to the lighting and then if I was to do it in a studio, it would take too long to prepare it
Then I added shapes and line to give it some stability & contrast against the white background. I like the little caption to tell them what is with the magazine its not giving too much away but its enticing and makes you want to read more.
I thought about overlaying the logo over the image although, this was very unsuccessful and didn't work.
I have now decided to place the logo within the block colour and place the caption top left. This is due to your eye been attracted to the block colour first. I have added a vector of cinema tickets to the corner as I thought it would balance out the negative space.
I have decided to go without the image as this is more of a simple clean look and therefore can relate to all audiences.
