Fredrigoni Sample Pack.
So I applied on the online samples pack and didn't think I would get anything due to it saying that students can't apply they have to go to the studio in London. When I picked up my parcel at the sorting office I was very surprised at the size of the package. I am very glad that I tested my chances now. To many people they replied saying that they didn't send stock out to students, so therefore I am very lucky to have this pack.
This was a sample book of papers in different weights. I like how they didnt print on the paper itself as this would have been a very time consuming task. They printed it on to a tracing paper so you can see it underneath but it is only printed on one piece of paper. Then they have ring binded it although I didn't like this binding in the saxo print booklet I found that this was better due to the less amount of pages and the smaller leafs.
This was also a poster they sent me, I really like this. I think the design is very fresh and is also explain the printing process needs. The poster also has spot varnish in places in different patterns which you can't see in these images, this is a very nice finishing touch within the poster.
This is another samples pack for digital indigo, I like how they have perfect bound the samples of paper. The paper is laid out clearly with the name clearly labeled and is very simple design. The paper is easy to be able to feel the quality and also makes it easier to compare against other papers within the pack. Although, this doesn't tell you what the papers work best for etc...
This is another sample pack of stocks they sent me, from the white & ivory brand. These are all uncoated papers and only show a small amount of different papers but I do think that this is a strength of the sample pack. Again, they have bound it through ring binding. This is very easy to feel and test the different gsm, as they are very large pieces due to the low amount in the pack. Although, again I do think they cold put what the papers are good to use for within the pack and how they are made for ethical reasons.
These are the samples I requested on the online website sample request form. I wasn't too sure what colours I was ordering or the styles of paper. I like how they have packaged them within a file with spot gloss and foiling on. They also, labelled some of the stock so I can refer back if I wanted to get more stock. These was also sent in a protection of a plastic wallet which I thought was clever so they didn't get dirty.
