Final Photography

This the the photography I took for studio brief 2, here I have photographed each element by itself to make sure you get a full understanding of all the parts of the design.

Overall I am very happy with my design & I think it came together very well! Although, I do wish I could have expanded this out to more of a festival and include more films as this would show how I could expand across audiences.

Final Design Boards

Self Evaluation Form

1.  What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?

I believe that my concept skills have developed largely within this module, this is due to the need of been inventive with the multisensory pack. I had to sit down & get my concept & my ideas together before starting to design, this has lead me to have a strong branding also, as I developed the design largely before moving onto anything else.

My crafting skills, although my skills have never been a poor quality I do believe that they needed to be improved. I have finished my work off fully & used the concept throughout. Rather than just packaging it anyhow and finishing it off with irrelevant objects.

2. What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?

I have improved my crafting of packaging nets, normally I am doing a number of mock-ups before getting the net perfectly lined. Although this time I only had to do one to two mock-ups before been able to computerise it.

I have used the same layout and icons throughout this product, which made me think that I hadn’t done much work as they look the same but in different formats. But the brand recognition is much more stronger in this that any of the others. I feel this is something I need to start doing as this is what branding is about and therefore this is something I will carry in the future to make sure I receive that strong brand recognition consistently.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?

I found it hard at first to think of how I can create a new event within a new brand. This was difficult when it came to the brand guidelines but I feel that the brand guidelines made me create this strong brand layout as everything was following the strict rules and therefore I feel this was a strength within my work.

I do believe that my crafting skills are strong and they do benefit my work. Although, I think that this can still be improved as I never think that anything can be perfect.

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future?

One weakness I believe that within my work is my time management this module as I put my other modules, which had an earlier deadline before these. I am very disappointed in myself as at the start of the year I was very organised and my time management skills has improved.

I was really disappointed that I could make the last brief into a festival, so I would have created three packs instead of one. Although due to the time management fail, this has also suffered.

I wish I could have developed my pack so it would also be relevant to adults as well. I wanted to use things that would be for the more mature palette but this failed due to the amount of time I had left I decided to go with the easy option and think of things that already existed that would enhance the experience rather than creating things, like some of my research.

5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?

1.     I will make sure that I will keep to my time management plan due to spending more time of modules that due to them been an earlier deadline. I think this has majorly affected my overall outcome.

2.     I would focus more on the development of my work rather than just computerising my outcome. As this time I did it start digitally as I was nervous that I wouldn’t complete the work in time & wanted to make sure I got a good quality & quantity in my work.

3.     I need to make sure that I blog when I do the work rather than doing it when it comes to the deadline as this is when things get missed out and therefore effects my overall grade. The tasks are also an issue as sometimes I don’t do them straight away and then don’t understand what the question is asking aftertime.

4.     I am going to make sure that I use facilities such as the laser cutter especially for things such as my mail out and the cut out of my packaging in both modules as this would give a crisper finish.

I will make sure I will leave myself more time to complete a self evaluation form, this is a very important part so you can understand that we know what went right and wrong. So therefore I will complete this the night before I read this the next day before hand-in.

6.How would you grade yourself on the following areas:

Attendance 5
Punctuality 5
Motivation 4
Commitment 4
Quality of work produced 4
Quantity of work produced 3
Contribution to the group 3

Wayfinding Development

This is starting the basic outline, I like the titles of the arrows, I am unsure at the moment whether to use different fonts or the same font.

Then I thought about advancing the arrows, so that it more abnormal and weird & wonderful than a boring old arrow. I am going to use solid pink background with the stock coming through.

Then I made these into a line of a possible outcome. I like the use of the different colours although I do think that different font is confusing and too much.

Then I decided to include the whole colour scheme in each arrow so they can be used alone. I like have used the typepath in correlation to the arrows base.
Then I wanted to add something to make the wayfinding more attractive. So I added the icons to the end of the arrow.

I carried this out to all the arrows I produced. I feel that these are not strong enough & I don't have enough time to develop these so I am going to have to be satisfied with the outcome.

Brand Guidelines

I found it was important for me to complete brand guidelines as the multisensory logo would be used within many different aspects constant for different events. And therefore would be very easily manipulated within that aesthetic if no brand guidelines where established. They are very simple but clear & defined.

Website & Banner Development

I have designed a basic proposal for a website, where the viewers will buy the tickets from where they can search to see what the brand is about. This will have 4 main pages which will be clearly laid out with short information text and then lots of imagery. This is playing on the theme of senses as this will create an aura to them that they will either make them want to go or not to go.

This is the home page, so this is the first page they will come to when they put in the web address. I have placed the latest event in a circle in the middle of the page. I feel this is good promotion as some people may not have seen the poster who are viewing, they might just happen to come by the website.

This is my about page, this has a basic paragraph about the multisensory cinema and what it does. How it can give you an experience like no other. I have used imagery of what the possibilities could be in the box. As this is giving a good idea of what it will be like.

Then there is upcoming events, when the company gets more well known then it will start traveling and holding their event in many places. This will then list the many places and that its holding and the next theme for the events we hope to hold. The rollover is very basic as I wanted the focus on the information & details. Also I have changed the top banner to grey on all the secondary pages due to the homepage tending to be different to the rest.

This is just a basic page that gives a quick description of what you are getting for your money. Then also the price of the ticket as the main focus of the page. Then you have two options to choose before you get taken to the next page that will ask you where you would prefer to sit & then the next window which will take you to the payment options.

This is my banner, I have sized this up for the current banner promoting the current films been showed at the cinema at the moment. I have used the same style that the other sliding images have as this therefore, corresponds with their consistency also. I have just included the important info, in which then you can click on to it which will take you to the homepage of the multisensory site, that can tell you more.

Box Packaging Development

So I started by working out the size that y box needs to be so that all my elements will fit in nicely. I only have 7 elements due me taking one out because one element has not come in time and therefore feel its best to take it out than have that chance of it not been here. Also the first element is a un-birthday card so this is just going to lay on top of everything else.

This is my first mock-up of an ideas I have from my research to turn a box into a plate. Although, now I have created this I think it ill not be very stable and it would be best to be contained.

(SECOND MOCK_UP)

This is going to be the one I chose as I believe that it has more structure and the base will be stronger to hold all the elements so we have no accidents. So now I am going to start doing it for my final.

I have chose to use brown card as I wanted to use the recycled brown card rather than this but this is just as good now I have seen the make-up of the box. I bought lots of stock to see which one works best, so but I found this was the best colour option as other creams didn't match and the pink was to much!.

Then I decided that I needed to put some structure within the box I didn't just want to put some shredded tissue paper within the box, I thought that I would shred book pages as this is more appropriate due to her mother reading her a book as she falls into her deep sleep.

I have created a belly band for the box to make sure it is branded, And then I don't have to screenprint onto the box. I have used the band of the icons on the side of the box. I have put a quote on the bottom about how the world is upside down and therefore you have the box upside down.

 Here is the final box:
