Illustrator Workshops
Lesson 1
In our first lesson of the illustrator workshop we learnt how to use the Pentool. Although, i have used illustrator before i have learnt many new things such as good shortcuts etc... The first exercise was to follow a exercise on the illustrator that directed you to be able to create different types of lines with the pentool. Which was a good refresher for the next task.

Second Attempt at tracing on the Pentool
| Here i have taken my second attempt and neatened the lines by using the Direct Selection tool |
| Here i have created the G by using shapes & pathfinder |
Lesson 2
I learnt many things from this lesson has I had never used the tools that he was demonstrating today. These tools are also more specific for the brief of illustrator as they are more appropriate to create a piece rather than cutting out. As you tend to manipulate a existing letterform rather than creating a whole new alphabet.
First Task
This is changing the profile of the line.
This is changing the brush definition. It makes it look like charcoal effect.
This is the many different line that you can create on illustrator by changing the brush definition or the cap, which you can find in the stroke panel.
This is a shape created from the shape tool and then i just adjusted the corners in the stroke panel.
Second Task
Here I have used the pen tool to create the wave of the moustache and then duplicated it and reflects the line to create the shape. Then I used the width tool and dragged out from the line to create this effect.
This is string ray like shape has been created from a line then adjusted with the width tool by squashing and enlarging parts.
This is using the width tool on a shape.
Third Task |
Here i have used the direct selection tool on the tail only and dragged down then played with the anchor points to create more of a wave.
Here i have used the direct selecting tool again but just pulled it across to create the bulging out effect.
| Here again used the direct selection tool and just expanded the serifs of the type. |
